Omnidirectional Antennas
In radio communication, an omnidirectional antenna is a class of antenna which radiates equal radio power in all directions perpendicular to an axis (azimuthal directions), with power varying with angle to the axis (elevation angle), declining to zero on the axis.[1][2] When graphed in three dimensions (see graph) this radiation pattern is often described as doughnut-shaped. Note that this is different from an isotropic antenna, which radiates equal power in all directions, having a spherical radiation pattern. Omnidirectional antennas oriented vertically are widely used for nondirectional antennas on the surface of the Earth because they radiate equally in all horizontal directions, while the power radiated drops off with elevation angle so little radio energy is aimed into the sky or down toward the earth and wasted. Omnidirectional antennas are widely used for radio broadcasting antennas, and in mobile devices that use radio such as cell phones, FM radios, walkie-talkies, wireless computer networks, cordless phones, GPS, as well as for base stations that communicate with mobile radios, such as police and taxi dispatchers and aircraft communications.

Radio Telemetry
Procter & Chester Measurements Ltd
Radio Telemetry: A transmission of data from a remote source via a radio to a receiving station for recording and analysis. Inductance: A contactless method of supplying power to (in this case) a strain gauge bridge. The signal is then transmitted back to the electronics. Slip Ring: Consists of a conductive band mounted on a shaft and is insulated from it. The wheatstone bridge is connected to the bands (usually four off). Fixed brushes or contacts make contact on to the bands to transfer power to the bridge and signal back to the static instrumentation.

VHF Radio Direction Finding Antennas
Vector-Finder Series
The Vector-Finder Series of VHF direction finding antennas provide a compact, lightweight, active antenna, suitable for use in the field with handheld transceivers and scanning radios. The mechanical design allows the sense antennas to be folded back to provide a compact unit, easily stowed or transported in any vehicle. The system interfaces with any FM receiver or transceiver via the antenna jack and the earphone jack. Several different models are available to suit your pocketbook or unique field application, all of which operate on the phase shift technique. The VF-142Q models incorporate left-right indicators as well as an audible response from which the user can determine the true direction of the radio signal. The other types utilize the audible response generated by the equipment and heard on the user’s receiver or transceiver. All models operate from a 9-volt battery.

Oscillators for Radio Amateurs
An oscillator is an electronic circuit designed to produce either audio or radio frequency signals. These will generally have sineusoidal wave form, but other wave shapes such as square and sawtooth are possible. In radio equipment oscillators will always have a low output power, and if a radio frequency is produced, the oscillator is acually a basic radio transmitter.

Product Range
Solus
Introducing Protea's new range of laser gas analysers - Solus. The Solus platform represents an extension of Protea's spectroscopic gas analysis equipment into laser based technology, allowing for highly selective, quick response and low range measurements of 1 or 2 gases in a cost-effective, re-configurable package. Solus utilises the latest in Tunable Laser Diode Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), together with the best in micromachining technology, to deliver a precisely controlled narrow wavelength that can be tuned over a small range. The narrow linewidth allows for selection of precise spectral absorbance in the NIR region, free from cross-interferences of other absorbing gases. For some tuning ranges, a number of gases can be measured by tuning a single laser diode e.g. NH3 and H2O.

Radio Frequency Scoring Tool
RFST
The Radio Frequency (RF) Scoring Tool (RFST) takes the guess work out of RF environment simulation. During RF environment simulation, the RFST provides clear persistent scoring and recording of the RF simulator’s performance. The RFST digitizes all RF signals in the form of digital Pulse Descriptor Words (PDWs) and associated In-phase/Quadrature (I-Q) data. This massive data stream is recorded for later (Post-Scenario) Analysis. Additionally, the RFST provides a real-time visual display of the accuracy of the RF output, easily visible through straight forward real-time indicators. The post analysis tool set allows an unlimited number of users to simultaneously assess previous RF simulator performance with compelling visual representations. The RFST is a perfect complement to our A2PATS product line offering everything you need for comprehensive environment simulation and analysis.
