Chassis Ride Height Applications
Chassis height sensing is a specific application of CTS' rotary sensor technology. Chassis height sensors measure the position of the control arms relative to the frame or body of the vehicle. This information is used in systems such as headlight leveling and real-time-dampening. Key features of the CTS' chassis height sensors is the ability to mount in a variety of angles and projections to accommodate difficult packaging as well as robust sealing required for under chassis applications. With a global team of application engineers, CTS can package one of our generic, tooled for sales sensors or develop a custom product, unique for your application.

Sensors for Contour Measurement
Leuze electronic GmbH + Co. KG
The CMS 700i 3D contour measurement system detects the length, width, height, deformations and position of any objects as they pass by, independent of their shape and surface. Even polybags are reliably detected. The complete system includes all components for operation and installation under one part number. In contrast, light section sensors record a height profile along a projected laser line. This allows objects to be detected with high resolution in multiple dimensions. The integrated functions range from presence control to edge measurement and 3D object measurement.

NI-9361, 32-Bit, 8-Channel C Series Counter Input Module
783407-02
32-Bit, 8-Channel C Series Counter Input Module - The NI‑9361 is a differential or single-ended input module. With this module, you can expand beyond the four counters in CompactDAQ to reach up to 64 counters per 8‑slot chassis. You can configure each channel to read a single pulse train or combine them to read up to four incremental encoders. You can also directly connect sensors with open-collector or push-pull outputs by using an internal switchable 1 kΩ pull‑up resistor. The NI‑9361 counters can perform encoder position and velocity measurements. You can synchronize the counters with other analog, digital, and counter measurements in your chassis.

RVDT Rotary Position Sensors
RV Series
The NewTek is a family of RVDT rotary position sensors for industrial applications. RVDT technology is known for reliability and ruggedness in harsh environments. The non-contact design allows for extremely long operational life and reliability and eliminates internal components that might wear or degrade over time. With a non-contact measurement, RVDTs offer good noise performance with excellent repeatability. The NewTek RV series is available in two sizes – The RV 8-30 is a size 8 (0.75 inch diameter) and the RV 11-30 is a size 11 (1.06 inch diameter).

*Laser Thermal Power Sensors
Thermal sensors have a series of bimetallic junctions called a thermopile. Radial or axial heat flow through the sensor creates a voltage proportional to the power absorbed as it flows through the thermopile. The reading is not dependent on the ambient temperature since only the temperature difference is measured and not the absolute temperature. The thermopile elements are so arranged that the reading is almost independent of beam size and position. Generally, Ophir specifies ±2% or better uniformity of reading over the surface.

Glare Sensors
The Glare sensor detects and distinguishes glare on even surfaces. It also provides maximum reliability and saves costs. Previously, gloss on object surfaces was a disruptive factor that regularly had engineers breaking into a sweat. Now, gloss properties are a distinguishing criterion for process control – regardless of color, transparency or pattern. And it will be engineers’ eyes that shine, not their brows. Equipped with intelligent Delta-S-Technology, Glare is a further milestone in customer-oriented sensor development. Once again, SICK is confirming its leading position in opto-electronic sensors for the detection of a range of objects.

PXI/PXIe LVDT, RVDT, Resolver Simulator Modules
Linear variable differential transformers (LVDT) are electrical transformer sensors to measure linear displacement. Driven by an AC excitation source, the LVDT generates a pair of AC output signals modulated according to the core's mechanical position (displacement). LVDTs have been widely used in applications such as power turbines, hydraulics, automation, aircraft, satellites, nuclear reactors, and many others. These transducers have low hysteresis and excellent repeatability.

VLF Receiver
T-Vlf
The VLF receiver is specially designed for high productivity surveys, in ground water and mining exploration. No orientation of the operator with respect to the direction of the transmitter is required since three magnetic sensors measure the components of the VLF field. Tilt or horizontality of the sensor unit is neither required since two inclinometers correct for tilted position.

PDS Bar Sweep Survey Software
Teledyne PDS Bar Sweep supports different ways to monitor your leveling operation. Teledyne RESON provides the software as well as the sensors to accompany the system.Teledyne PDS visualizes the bar in top, profile, and 3D views indicating where the leveling has taken place. The position and depth of the bar is logged to a digital terrain model (DTM) which is color-coded for depth. It is possible to display a design depth in the profile views, indicating whether the bar has to be lowered or hoisted.

Distance Sensors - Functionality & How They Work
Distance sensors do not only measure the interval between the sensor and an object: A distance measurement sensor can determine fill levels, measure the dimensions of objects, check the positions of vehicles or objects and avoid collisions by detecting obstacles. In the industrial sector, more and more companies are using radar sensors for distance measurement. The reason: In comparison to an ultrasonic or laser distance sensor, radar sensors are able to measure reliably even in the presence of steam, smoke, dust, dirt, vibrations or extreme temperatures.
