This is an eight, four, or two-port, asynchronous, serial communication board designed for use on the PC/104 bus. It supports full RS-232 serial communications. The board may be installed in any standard PC/104 stack. Connections are made via two 40 pin IDC type right angle connectors for the boards optional breakout cable. The boards are feature-rich and allow for the connection of multiple serial devices—ideal for a variety of applications such as POS, barcode readers, modems, machine monitoring and control, military, high-density networking applications or any other application requiring the connection of RS-232 serial devices to a PC/104 compatible system. Type 16780 UARTS are used as the asynchronous communication elements. These include 64-byte transmit/receive FIFO buffers to protect against lost data in multitasking systems while maintaining 100% compatibility with all operating system COM port drivers. ACCES offers the 104-COM232-8 series in both standard and extended temperature versions ideal for outdoor applications or harsh industrial surroundings. The 40-735 data communications multiplexer is designed for switching the data lines of serial interfaces (RS232, USB). Careful attention to the design of the module ensures that the switching system minimizes its impact on the transmission distance of USB1.1 interfaces. The MUX is available in 36:1 or 18:1 formats and enables a single source of serial data to be switched to one of 36 or 18 devices under test. This allows the data source to load information to, or receive information from, the device under test. This 36:1 version can be software configured into two independent 18 way MUXs enabling two separate sources of serial data to be connected to separate banks of 18 devices. The module is ideal for performing bulk testing of any device that relies on a serial data communications port to load software or control the device operation. It can also be used for a variety of other applications where ever a 2-pole low power MUX is required.

The 104i-COM-8SM (PCI-104) family of multi-port, multi-protocol (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485), serial communication boards deliver up to eight high-speed serial communication ports for use in a wide variety of applications. The boards were developed for use by system integrators and manufacturers in the design of industrial and commercial systems. Based on the XR17D158, the boards have eight enhanced 16550 UARTs, each with a set of modem signals (CTS, RTS, RI, DTR, DSR, CD) in RS-232 mode. Each UART has both a 64 byte transmit and a 64 byte receive FIFO. Ports are accessed via two 40-pin IDC type right angle header connectors. 2 and 4-port versions are available, as well as RS-232 only models.
