Wrist Strap Monitors
Single conductor (more commonly called single wire) ESD wrist strap monitors detect capacitance. These simplified monitors sense the input connection but do not discern precision resistance. They also offer additional value by monitoring the worksurface (ESD Mat) and the ground connection. The built-in LED offers local visual alerts, and a small piezo buzzer offers a nice clear audible alert to the operator at the bench.

Portable Touchplate Wrist Strap Tester
Testing your ESD Wrist Strap system before handling electrostatic sensitive is extremely important. ESD events can go unnoticed by feel and sight. While a static discharge into a door knob (we’ve all done it!) can be thousands of volts, an ESD event can be as little as 10V, and you will not feel this. The Keysight 8474C is a high-performance detector using a gallium arsenide, planar-doped barrier detecting element. It features extremely flat frequency response over its entire band of operation and very good frequency response stability versus temperature. The Keysight 8474C is also very rugged with high resistance to ESD damage. The Keysight 8474C detector is available with a 3.5-mm (mates with SMA, 0.01 to 33 GHz) connector. This detector offers the options for optimal sqaure-law loads (Option 102) and for positive polarity output (option 103). Because the unit-to-unit frequency response tracking of this device is typically better than 0.3 dB, no matched response option is offered.
